Deep Roots Farm CSA

Our Growing Practices

Our farm is not currently certified as organic, but we continue to remain all natural with no hormones, additives, or anything weird.  We do use sustainable practices. No synthetic fertilizers, or insecticides are applied to our crops! Most crops are grown from organic-non-GMO seed, started right here on our farm. We are maximizing our resources in order to offer this many options and All Natural is the way to go for us.

What we offer and Why:

Deep Roots farm wants to provide healthy food for you and your family sustainably and healthily, the way God intended.  In doing so we have decided a Community Sponsored Agriculture program is the best way for us to pursue our goal. The CSA fronts costs that the farmer normally has to borrow funds for at the beginning of the growing season.  This creates cash flow during the critical time to get all the offerings planted and growing, as well as continue to grow the farm with sustainable infrastructure. Check out our website for how your funds directly affect what we are able to offer each year and the long term improvements we are tackling.

Notes: ***If pre-ordered turkeys or chicken are no longer available at the end of the season due to attrition or a failed crop, the pre-ordered funds will be refunded in full.  ***The CSA shares will not be handled this way.  The shares are just that and if we have a bumper crop the shares will receive far above their base allotment.  Based on numbers from previous years the low estimate is 7 to 9 lbs per week per share.

No refunds on CSA shares. However, if you move from the area during the season and are unable to pick-up your goods, a pro-rated refund will be issued on a case by case basis at the sole discretion of Deep Roots Farm.

Risk & Reward of Crop Share

Sharing in the RISK OF CROP FAILURE

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week.  The quantity of produce, however, may vary from week to week or month to month.  Due to weather, we may cover one crop for another that is currently producing to keep the amounts consistent throughout the season. We may also purchase from another farm for variety or to supplement.  We only partner with other farms with similar growing practices.

Sharing in the REWARD OF CROP SURPLUS

In the event of a bumper crop.  (Which will be fantastic!) We will give first pick for additional crops to full share members. Additional crops will be available for purchase via our web store or on site at the farm.  We may also choose to wholesale to other local vendors.  You may see products not received with the CSA. This is normal as some products go directly to market.  Although they are usually available as add ons during harvest.
